A new edition of the Global Food Venture Programme Madrid Summer School has finished and we have been able to learn from the ideas that will change the food system.

This Stage I of the programme organised by IMDEA Alimentación, the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and the company Excellenting, and funded by EIT Food, aims to help PhD students to visualise scalable companies in the field of food and agriculture based on their research projects.

This edition had an agenda with top-level professionals such as Inés Sagrario, Maysoun Douas, Balvinder Sighn, Alberto Levy and Ander López, among more than 30 speakers who took part.  The topics covered included how to work on ideas to turn them into projects, how to get to know your business ecosystem, how to present business ideas, how to use technology in your project, where to find the money to carry out your idea and how to make it grow. In addition, the programme included inspirational talks by entrepreneurs who have already gone through the process of turning their idea into a startup.

Stage I of the GFVP ended with a demo day in which the participants presented their project to the event's jury. The projects presented respond to the need to make the agri-food sector more efficient and sustainable.

The winning projects were:

- Joanna Mrozek - BiofortiJodoCompany

- Robert Gosik - Fosfibind

- José Luis Antezana Huarcaya and Claudia Cappello - YouFood

- Roisin O'Sullivan - Choose Food

All of them will be offered the possibility to participate in Stage II of the programme, the Business Incubation Program. Congratulations!
